What Is Music Production?

So what is music production........? Making music right? Sure it is, but it s a lot more than that: to be a producer, you should be known to different kinds of tastes in music. What I  mean by that is, you should know all types of music worldwide you should know what is hip hop, what is rock, what is metal, what is country, what is party music, etc. It is essential because you must work according to your client or occasion in this field. You need to dive into it. Make music for great singers and artists or you can make your own music. 2nd thing is that you should be familiar with computers and instruments. We'll talk about that stuff further.

Discover Yourself

Once you've decided what kind of music you want to make, it's time to find your own style. You may have heard the saying "follow your heart," but how can you do that if there are no clear rules?

There are many ways in which someone can develop their own sound:

  • Experiment with different instruments and recording techniques. Try playing a song on a ukulele or using ring modulation in a synth patch (a technique where the volume of one note changes when another note plays). If these things don't sound right to you, keep trying until they do!

  • Listen carefully to other people's work and think about why they made certain choices—are those decisions similar or different from yours? What would I do differently if given this opportunity myself?

Finding Connections

Finding connections in the music industry can be a useful way to get your foot in the door. If you have friends or family members who work in the music industry, it might be worth making contact with them and asking if they could put you in touch with someone who could help you out. You can also try attending events that are relevant to your interests, such as live concerts or festivals. Answering questions from people at these events will make it much easier for people there to remember what you look like, so don't be afraid of participating!

What Things Do You Need?

Now we'll talk about what stuff you need for music production. So the first thing you would need is a PC or laptop and music production software, there are various softwares such as FL Studios, Protools, Ableton, etc. Which we will talk about later. 2nd thing, you need a microphone. Now, there are two kinds of microphones if you're a beginner then you can buy a USB microphone or you can buy an XLR microphone.

                      Microphone

If we compare the USB and XLR microphones. A USB microphone is also a better option if you are a beginner and if you have a soft vocal, USB microphones are pretty budget-friendly. An XLR microphone can give you better sound quality but it could be expensive because to operate an XLR microphone you need a sound card or audio interface. Another thing is you should know how to play a keyboard, synthesizer, or Casio whatever you are comfortable with because you'll also need a MIDI keyboard for making music. What is a MIDI keyboard?

MIDI Keyboard
This is a MIDI keyboard

A MIDI keyboard allows you to synthesize the signals from software (Music Production Software) and produce sounds such as drums, pianos, strings, etc. Some other things you need are good quality headphones because it gives you a bigger picture of the sound and allows you to listen to the minor details in the music going on, it so much depends upon the quality of the headphones you use. You also need studio monitors because they can give you more details that the headphones possibly can't. If you listen to a sound with headphones and monitors one by one you'll get a huge difference in the bass and treble of the sound or music. Monitors can give a different idea and make it a lot easier to pull out the points that need work. You can easily hear the difference between headphones and monitors.

*ALSO DEPENDS ON THE QUALITY OF THE MONITORS*

Sound Monitor

You can start with FL Studios, my personal favorite software it is easy to understand and has all the features required to make any kind of music. You can start by recording your vocals and creating different kinds of sounds.

So many people just give up at the start of the carrier thinking that it's way too hard but let me tell you something that's what I thought at the start when I was not able to make the perfect beats or understand what was going on...

One of the most important lessons I learned while learning how to produce music is that you should never give up on your dream. Even if you fail, it's okay! You can always try again and keep trying until you get it right.

It's also important not to be discouraged by failure—if something doesn't work out the first time, don't give up on what could have been a good idea or song for your next project (I know this from personal experience). Instead of throwing out all previous versions of yourself—the ones who didn't make it or weren't able to finish their ideas—find ways around those obstacles so they don't affect future attempts at producing music.

It is possible to become a music producer, but it will require time and effort. You need to have a good ear for music, train your skills and discover and apply your own styles.

We hope you have found this article useful in your journey to becoming a music producer. Remember that there are many ways to succeed, and even if you do not become a professional musician, the skills and experience gained from producing can still be valuable for other careers.
